11th Annual Pinedaville Party

Abandon Ship!

Friday - November 14, 2008.

The building of Pinedaville begins at 10 am. Generally, we have several Friday arrival boats – the reward for which is getting the primo anchoring spots. Throughout the day we will be unloading vehicles, building the band stand and setting up the sound equipment, assembling tents, digging a fire pit and preparing the beach for the weekend. We can use all the volunteers we can get.  It is a day filled with work and play but most of all a lot of laughter. If you want to bring some snacks, we will have a table for snacks set up so that everyone can share during the afternoon. Join us on Friday for a day of building and an evening of relaxing and camaraderie.

Saturday – November 15, 2008.

12:00 Noon -  The official Start of Pinedaville 2008.  Land Ho!  Get in your dingies or land yachts and head for Pineda shores at high noon.  Come dressed as you were – before the ship went down!  We’ll kick off the event with a parade of costumes.  This year we will have three costume categories in our Best Costume Contest:  1) Group 2) Single and 3) Child.  After the costume contest, last year’s king and queen, David and Gail Cordial, will select and crown Pinedaville’s King and Queen for 2008.

Keep your costumes on!  We will take a group photo in front of the band stand right after the crowning of the new king and queen.

Make a Wilson ball.  Lost at sea with nothing to do?  Kids are invited to decorate a ball and create their own Wilson at the children’s craft station.

1:00 pm - Pan Pan (Mullet Toss).  Every stranded sailor should know the art of throwing a fish.  Accuracy counts as much as distance in this version of the mullet toss as you try to land your slimy fish into a pan.

2:00 pm Muster Station Relay  Show off your rescue skills.  This relay will start with the calling of May Day! Each team is made up of four participants, each of whom will run a leg in a crazy version of a muster station exercise.

3:00 - Dingy Race:Women/Children First.  Hey guys – no pushing! Let your women and children race around the marks the first time around.  The guys will swap places and take over the dingies for the final lap back to shore.

4:00 pm - Survivor Challenge.  Do you have what it takes?  The Windsors will host their famous survivor challenge.  No practicing - the challenge requirements will not be revealed until the start of the events.

5:00 pm - SOS Conch Blowing Contest. Is that a ship on the horizon?  Blow the conch like you want to be rescued!

5:30 pmDinner is Served! Drifting at sea can make a person hungry!  This year the club will be providing pulled BBQ pork and rolls.  Members will provide the yummy side dishes – don’t forget to bring extra if you are bringing family/friends to the event.

7:00 pmLimbo - How low can you go?  As is our tradition, you cannot bend forward or scoot underneath the pole.  Bending over backwards only!  Ouch – anyone know a good chiropractor?

8:00 pm - Local Talent Showcase.  We know you are out there.  Share your musical talents with your fellow sailors.  Here’s your chance at the spotlight.

???? pmMusic/Dancing at the Band Stand and Fireside Social.  We will have a band stand set up with a sound system playing your favorite CDs throughout the day.  After the local talent shows us what they got, enjoy the music fireside while enjoying s’mores and sea stories, or come over and pound the sand with the others whose feet can’t keep still.
