THE DETAILS . . .

If you're not going to the Bahamas, we hope to see you at the Marker 21 spoil island cruise June 14-15.  Since this is our first time as cruise hosts, we will keep it simple.  This will be an old-fashioned, no-frills get-together.  Join us on the west shore of the island for a 5:30 pm potluck dinner on Saturday.  We will provide plates, forks, and napkins.  Bring a dish to share, plus your own beverages, cups and chairs.  If it's cool enough, we'll try a bonfire.  Breakfast will be equally informal, at 9 am Sunday morning .  Bring your own coffee and something to share.

Rumor has it that members of the Melbourne Yacht Club may also be heading to the island that weekend, so it could be a chance to broaden our horizons and share the space with some additional fellow sailors.

GETTING THERE . . .

Our gathering spot is the spoil island just west of the ICW at marker 21, a little over 6 nautical miles south of the Melbourne causeway.  From the channel at marker 21 (27° 59.456'N  80° 32.414'W) head towards the anchorage on the north side of the island (approximate bearing from the channel is 225M).  Depth is 6 to 7 feet for most of the area, even fairly close to the island.  Beware of the sandy spit that runs out from the island in a west / southwest direction; it is not marked on the chart.
