Sebastian Inlet Cruise 2008

This year’s event is being co-hosted by the Vanderveers, Conrads, and Cahalls (the Vanderveers are phasing themselves out gently). Pavilion # 3 (same as in past years, next to the heads) has been rented by the club for Saturday and Sunday. If you plan on attending, please sign up at the May general meeting or email Ron at rvanderveer@bellsouth.net. Note that the agenda for this year is a bit more relaxed than in the past, with only one planned meal on Sunday night.

Friday May 23rd and Saturday May 24th –
Arrival days for everyone. No formal club plans for these days. This allows plenty of time for groundings, ungroundings, anchoring snafus, and alcohol assisted stress relief after it’s all done. Get there early if you can, the entertainment of watching everyone anchor is priceless! Remember, if coming from the north, go completely past the inlet while still inside the ICW, then turn east and over the shallows, then turn north again to anchoring depth (see accompanying chart).

Sunday May 25th –
Sunday Morning: Sunday morning breakfast will be a true potluck beginning at 8:30am. The club will have coffee and juice in the pavilion for the duration of the morning, and we’ll bring down the propane stoves and grill for those that wish to cook. Please bring eggs and meats for your own crew, and a breakfast or brunch dish to share. And also please bring your own dishes, cups, and utensils.

Midday on Sunday is open for whatever floats your boat. The pavilion will be available for hanging out and relief from the sun.

Sunday Evening: The dinner potluck will start at 6:30pm. The club will furnish meat products (chicken, hot dogs and burgers) and members will need to bring their own drinks, plus a side dish to share per the “Vanderveer side dish matrix”. Note: if you have a boat bigger than 50 ft. LOA, you have to bring your assigned side dish, and at least one 12 oz. beer for every adult at the event!

The Vanderveer Side Dish Matrix
Boat length (LOA) Assigned Food Group
None  (land based) soft drinks, wine, hot or cold dips, desserts
0 – 29 ft. length chips, fruits, raw vegetables, cheese, crackers
30 - 50 ft. length hot side dishes (rice, beans, meatballs, hot vegetables, etc.)

Monday May 26th –
No structured breakfast. Coffee and juice will be served in the morning at the pavilion, as the final clean up is done and the fleet begins to depart.

Any questions call Ron Vanderveer at 321-255-3854, or Chris Conrad at 407-443-0676. See you there!
