7th Annual Boy Scout Island Fish Fry
2008 7th Annual Fish Fry Boy Scout Island
The cruise will begin on Saturday May 3rd. In response to have more family activities on our cruises we will be planning the following. Everyone will be arriving by boat in the morning hours and have lunch on their own. At 2:00 the cruise will get officially underway and begin with a “Survivor Type Challenge” (Details to be announced at the time of the challenge but it is available to all ages from 7 to ?? maybe even younger as you see fit. If there are not enough youths we will substitute willing adults. All good fun I assure you. If in the event we have more than we plan on we will have two heats.
The challenge event will be followed by snow cones supplied by our cruise captain. Following the snow cones we will have a mini table tennis tournament on the beach. After that, we plan to begin cooking around 5:00 pm and have dinner around 6:00. The bill of fare will include fried Fish, French Fries, my Special Tartar Sauce and any sides you bring. Dinner of course will be announced by the blowing of the conch shell. Following dinner we will be letting the youth have a go at a piñata.
We are in need of firewood, please bring all you can. We plan to start the fire at dusk and have smores when the coals are right. See you there, here are the directions. Please let us know if you plan to attend and if you plan to bring youths and their ages by emailing us at kpjbw@aol.com
Boy Scout Island is located south of SR 520 in the Indian River. To get to the island, sail to marker #83, then align yourself with a three-story house to the east and a cell phone tower to the west (approx 090 degrees). This will keep you south of the sandbar that extends well south of the island. Stay on this track until the island is on your port quarter, then turn north. There is another sandbar that extends northeast from the island so do not travel north past the island. Generally there is six to seven feet of water. Dinghy to the beach on the north side of the island.
